My process begins with a thorough needs assessment to understand the problem's full scope. I develop guiding questions, collaborate with peers, and gather data through interviews, surveys, and analysis. Insights often come from subtle details that reveal broader patterns. By the end of this phase, I establish a clear objective, aligning everyone on the end goal.
I generate multiple solutions, typically presenting 2-3 options with pros and cons to engage users in selecting the best path. I tailor my tools to each project, from wireframes to demonstrations, ensuring concepts are communicated effectively. Prioritizing sustainable solutions that balance innovation and practicality, I support long-term operational efficiency.
I translate ideas into actionable designs focused on usability, accessibility, and aesthetics. Using tools like Figma and Sketch, I prototype each project’s unique story to create intuitive, seamless experiences. I continuously assess for simplicity and consistency, crafting interfaces that feel natural and foolproof.
My scaffolded testing approach includes independent testing, internal reviews, and partner testing. Structured feedback rounds ensure focused improvements without an endless feedback loop, helping the design evolve strategically and preparing it for the next phase confidently.

My name is Kendall Poulson, and I’m passionate about transforming complex challenges into intuitive, user-centered experiences. My journey into design began as a middle school science teacher, where I loved the iterative process of creating and refining my curriculum to enhance learning. This passion led me to instructional design and eventually into UX, where I specialize in turning complexity into seamless, empowering solutions.
Outside of work, I love iterating on myself and connecting with the world around me. I try to make a friend everywhere I go—even on a quick grocery run—and constantly strive to become a better version of myself, for myself and for those around me. My creative energy finds its outlet in aesthetics, whether through creating digital art and bringing it to life intangible forms or through my self-proclaimed “fashionista journey.” Balance comes through movement, and you’ll often find me in a heated pilates class, wandering Somerville on a (very, very) long walk, or exploring new places. This mindset and these hobbies keep me inspired, grounded, and ready to bring fresh energy to every project.
